FILIP VEST

It was only when I brought them home that I realized my mistake. I had thought they could channel some sort of hidden truth to me. That I would learn the secrets of the ancient Polynesian navigation technique. But the bamboo from the hardware store just stood rigidly and stared at me with its empty eyes of cowry shells.

“What is it really you want to map?” they asked me

“My body is a foreign country.” I told them

“The sea where living creatures were at one time immersed is now enclosed within their bodies.” They whispered at me.

The next day I woke up with tiny molluscs all over my skin.
